Understanding the rules of this game are quite doable but one must also know the correct etiquette regarding golf carts, golf clubs etc. This Scotland originated game has many things to offer and for one to take the game seriously, he must know various concepts like how many ways are there to play the game, whether there is a dress code, etc.
Golf games can be played in many different ways but the most common ones are-
- Stroke play- Here, the player with the lowest score wins. There are a predetermined number of games and the player’s score is tallied throughout the game.
- Match play- In this version of the game, multiple team players can be there and one point is assigned to each hole. The team with the highest number of points is the one which wins.
- Scrambles- This version of the game is usually played between team members of four in number. All four players make their first shot and then after that, the games are continued from the point which is considered to be the best shot.
For a better game experience, along with clubs you can also carry the following things in your golf bags: six balls, wooden tees, gloves, rain suit, pencils and a towel. Usually, people carry up to 14 clubs in their bag. They also carry their own score card for making a note of their shots.
The dress code for golf games is to wear something which is comfortable yet professional. A collared shirt, pants, shorts are appropriate. The golf shoes should be soft spiked for a better hold on the ground. A baseball hat and a golf sweater is also a good option.
Etiquettes regarding golf carts mostly need you to drive it in such a way that you avoid the grass as much as possible. The fairways should be kept tidy. Also, the speed of the golf cart should be maintained at an appropriate level. Golf carts are also known as “buggy”. Every golf course has a set of slightly different rules for the carts, so be sure to drive the cart only on the designated cart paths.
