Dos and don’ts of golf games
Golf games are commonly played by people who want to have nice, peaceful time playing a game which doesn’t stress them out. The game is also played when there are informal meetings to be held. The area where the ball is struck with the golf club is called the “teeing area”. The whole purpose of the game is to put the ball into the hole in the fewest number of strokes as possible. There are 18 such holes. The area which has the hole in it is known as the “putting green”. There are proper rules and etiquette to be followed when playing this game so it is necessary that one is aware of them. As the player plays more and more golf games, he gets used to the general structure of the rules.
The rules can differ from one court to another. For example, the rules of golf carts are usually slightly different in golf courts of different states. But the general rules are usually the same. Also, it is better to just steer clear of the grass and stick to the designated cart paths to avoid misconduct.
Here are the few things you must definitely follow in golf games:
- Maintain the maximum of 14 clubs in your golf bag. Fewer can be used but not more than that.
- Play without any delay. When all the other members of the team have left the putting green area, no one should stay behind.
- The player furthest from the pin is the one who is allowed to be play first.
- The place where the ball has to be struck from must not be tampered with.
- Remain quiet when another player is ready to take his swing.
- Keep the golf carts away from the grass. Golf carts rules should be enquired upon by the player as he enters the court. The pro-shop at the check-in helps out people regarding this.
- Wear appropriate dress code along with a baseball hat and soft spiked golf shoes.
Here are a few things you must take care to not do:
- Do not drop the golf clubs on the putting green
- Do not move, laugh or talk loudly when another player is hitting the ball.
- Do not walk across another player’s putting line. This may affect the path of the ball.
There are many more rules one should read up on before going for a game. In conclusion, golf games sure look easy but there is more to what meets the eye.
